I completely acknowledge that these images are meant to be shocking. That said, I think that the violence of this imagery is not so offensive as the eroticism of violence against women in these images. Taking fairy tale characters out of context is something that I usually love and is what initially drew me to these photos. After viewing all of them I didn’t feel like these photos made any statements about the fairy tales or Disney princesses. The stories were just used to create a setting for a woman to lie dead and somehow it was portrayed as sexy. It’s clear that in most of these pictures the women were beaten and most likely raped. Even in the photos that look like accidental deaths their dresses are up and their corpse is eroticized. There is nothing artistic or sexy about these photos. To be honest it looks like a demented sexual fantasy that the photographer created for his own pleasure rather them to make an artistic statement. I am personally offended when anyone tries to glamorize violence against women but to masquerade it as art is disgusting.
Recent paying gig to shoot an expensive china collection. All natural light btw. I find natural light really challenging with still life photography but when life gives you lemons…
oh and that reflective wooden table saved my life!
